What is IELTS Reading?
IELTS Reading is a 60-minute test with 3 passages and 40 questions. It tests your ability to understand academic texts, find information quickly, and answer various question types.
9 Question Types
IELTS Reading includes 9 distinct question types. Mastering each is essential for success:
1. Multiple Choice
Choose the correct answer from options A, B, C, or D. Requires careful reading and elimination of incorrect choices.
2. True/False/Not Given
Determine if statements agree (True), disagree (False), or are not mentioned (Not Given) in the text. This is often the most challenging type.
3. Matching Headings
Match paragraph headings (i-x) to paragraphs. Requires understanding main ideas and paragraph structure.
4. Matching Information
Match specific information (letters A-G) to statements. Tests scanning and detail comprehension.
5. Matching Features
Match categories (letters A-G) to items. Often used for classifying people, places, or things.

7. Sentence Completion

8. Summary, Note, Table, Flow-chart Completion
Complete gaps in summaries, notes, tables, or flow-charts using words from the text or a provided list.
9. Diagram Label Completion
Label parts of a diagram using words from the text. Tests visual-text integration.

Band Descriptors
IELTS Reading is scored on a band scale from 0-9. Here's what each band represents:
