Top Tips for IELTS Writing
- 1Plan before you write: Spend 2-3 minutes outlining your essay structure. This saves time and improves coherence.
- 2Meet the word count: Task 1 under 150 words or Task 2 under 250 words results in penalties. Aim for 160-180 and 260-280 words respectively.
- 3Use your own words: Do not copy phrases from the question. Paraphrase using synonyms and different sentence structures.
- 4Manage your time: 20 minutes for Task 1, 40 minutes for Task 2. Task 2 carries more weight in your final score.
- 5Check your work: Save 2-3 minutes at the end to review grammar, spelling, and coherence.
